Manslaughter Charge Laid In Drug Overdose Death

A 57-year-old Sarnia woman is now facing a manslaughter charge in connection with the sudden death of a man in the 700-block of Indian Rd. on August 9, 2017.

The 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital due to a drug overdose.

A couple of days later, city police searched a Devine St. home and seized a small amount of crack cocaine.

Constable John Sottosanti says Karen Ebel-Savage, who was initially charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, was arrested again this week on an additional charge.

"Further evidence has been obtained, resulting in the arrest of Ebel-Savage on March 13, 2018," says Sottosanti. "She has now also been charged with manslaughter. She attended her bail hearing Wednesday morning and has since been released."

Anyone with further information is asked to call Detective Miro Soucek at 519-344-8861 ext. 6191.
