New Point Edward Holiday Inn Proposed

Significant development plans are in the works in Point Edward including a proposed new hotel.

Blackburn News Sarnia has learned that The Vrancor Group hopes to begin construction of a six-storey, 110 room Holiday Inn Express and Suites on Venetian Blvd. in the next few months.

It's to be located between the Hampton Inn by Hilton and the Best Western Plus Guildwood Inn which are already owned by the Hamilton-based property management company.

Village officials say the land is properly zoned but variances in parking regulations are required.

A spokesperson for Sunray Group of Hotels confirms they are in the process of purchasing the current Holiday Inn property in Point Edward.

The Toronto-based company specializes in hospitality and development and says on its website that it has formed partnerships with prominent hotel brands such as Marriott, Radisson and Choice Hotels.

As well, Steeves and Rozema is in the process of selling-off over 60 acres of land in Point Edward.
