Local Company Makes Big Commitment To Healthcare Students

Steeves & Rozema is providing eight Sarnia healthcare students with scholarships totalling $14,000.

The construction and management company has established a fund at the Sarnia Community Foundation.

Foundation Executive Director Jane Anema says the grants range from $500 to $3,000.

She's thrilled the commitment from Steeves & Rozema.

"It's a huge opportunity, and it's not necessarily just those who are starting off," says Amena.

"Sometimes, it is students that are well on the track. They are not just entry-level scholarships, they are also scholarships for people who are already in the system. When I went through school, it was the second and third years that were more problematic in terms of finding funding."

Anema says the foundation plans to give a total of $60,000 in scholarships this year with help from community partners.
