Sarnia-Lambton United Way Campaign Nears 90% Mark

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign has seen a big push in the last couple of weeks.

Executive Director Dave Brown says they're now at 89% or $1.78-million of their $2-million goal.

The campaign has been lagging behind last year's pace since beginning on September 12.

Brown says it has definitely been more of a struggle this campaign to reach target.

"We, at this United Way, have never lowered our target," says Brown. "Our strategy has been for the last 15 or 20 years to keep it at what we raised the previous year, and if we could reach that we would be very happy. There was a lot of discussion over the summer about this year's campaign goal, so we looked at the needs of the community and decided to keep it at the same level. Next year, of course we'll have the discussion again and see where we land."

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 19 agencies providing 35 programs and services to the community.
