Imagine, if you dare, having cancer. Then imagine having to worry about how you will get back and forth to treatment.
That's where "Pigs of Hope" come into play.
Paula McKinlay with the Sarnia-Lambton chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society is asking residents to come by their office on Christina St. N and pick up a pink or blue piggy bank, then fill it with money to help with their Wheels of Hope Transportation program.
"The program costs us about $85,000 a year," says McKinlay. "Right now we're helping 436 patients, both adults and children. We provide about 2,500 rides per year in Sarnia-Lambton."
Residents are being asked to keep the pig from now until New Years and try to raise at least $50, which is the cost of one trip for treatment for a cancer patient, then return it to the office at 556 Christina St. N.
