Waterline Improvements Needed For New Seniors Facility

A long-term care facility at Aamjiwnaang First Nation is the top priority for the chief and council this term, but before plans proceed, the waterline on Virgil Ave. needs to be upgraded.

Chief Joanne Rogers says they've submitted a list of items to be included in the city's capital budget deliberations.

"We asked to be involved to be involved in the budgetary process and the city has extended an invitation," says Rogers. "Plans are proceeding for the long-term care home but we need to first improve the infrastructure. We need to work together with the city and we do have a good working relationship with each other."

Chief Rogers and council would also like to see a bike lane on Tashmoo Ave. from Churchill Rd. to LaSalle Line and resurfacing of Marlborough Lane.

She would also like to see the sanitary system expanded to include residents living on the south end of Scott Rd. and on South Vidal St. who are still using grinder pumps to dispose of their sewage.
