Need For Disaster Donations Rising

It's been one disaster after another and local residents are doing what they can to help out.

Donations for Hurricane Irma victims have been pouring in at the Red Cross office on East St. in Sarnia.

Spokesperson Jennifer Ouellette says Red Cross agencies from across the globe are responding to the Caribbean islands, where Irma has left behind catastrophic devastation.

"Canadians wishing to make a financial contribution to the Canadian Red Cross Hurricane Irma fund, can do so online at redcross.ca," says Ouellette. "Money raised will enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from the hurricane and other severe weather events impacting the same nations as Irma -- including Hurricane Maria."

Ouellette says donations are also being accepted for Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas and ongoing relief efforts in the US.

You can also donate over the phone to the red cross. (1-800-418-1111)
