Impaired Driving Charges Laid After Car Hits Tree

A Sarnia woman is facing impaired driving charges after a vehicle slammed into a tree Monday afternoon.

Just before 4pm, Sarnia police were notified by a witness that a vehicle hit a tree in the area of Russell and Devine streets and then fled the scene.

Minutes later, the vehicle was spotted in the area of London Rd. and MacKenzie St. North, with the driver's side airbag deployed.

Breath samples indicated the driver was over the legal limit, and officers also located what is believed to be Fentanyl inside the vehicle.

A 35-year old Sarnia woman is scheduled to appear in court October 11 to answer to several charges including with 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
