Staff at Sarnia City Hall want more money for Centennial Park. Council is being asked to sign off on over $250,000 Monday for phases two and three of the remediation and revitalization, and Harbour Rd. infrastructure projects. Mayor Mike Bradley says it's unacceptable. "I believe there should be a full audit of the park work after completion, I also think there needs to be an outside review of the handling of this matter all the way through because there's been a number of decisions that have come back now to cause more issues, as it relates to costing and finances and I think the citizens of Sarnia deserve answers," says Bradley. Staff have recommended that the money come out of the water reserve and federal gas tax reserve. "That's money we could use to pave the streets of Sarnia, over $250,000, and there are continual requests. In fact , there are two requests on this council agenda and that money could have gone to that purpose instead of continually going into this money pit called Centennial Park." According to the staff report, the total cost of remediation has hit $12.8-million, and installation of the new boat ramp remains stalled.
