Red Cross Welcomes Donations For BC Fire Victims

The Canadian Red Cross has started accepting donations for victims of the devastating fires in British Columbia.

Nationally over $2.2-million has already been raised.

Red Cross Spokesperson Jennifer Ouellette says every little bit helps.

"If you do want to donate there are a couple ways you can do so, you can go online at www.redcross.ca where we have a page set up for the BC Fires Appeal, you can call our number 1-800-418-1111 or text the word "fire" to 45678," says Ouellette.

Local residents can also donate in person at the East St. branch in Sarnia.

Ouellette says donations will go towards providing immediate relief to fire victims including cots, blankets, clothing, food and financial assistance.
