Storm Damages St. Clair Township Park

St. Clair Township is still cleaning up after a severe thunderstorm caused damage last Friday evening.

Mayor Steve Arnold says the Port Lambton area was hardest hit by high winds between 6:15pm and 7:15pm on July 7.

He says crews had to repair the splash pad in Brander Park.

"We had a number of trees that were toppled and broken, lots of branches came down," says Arnold. "We just put in a beautiful new splash pad at Brander Park a year ago and we had a piece of it hit by a large diameter limb that broke off an apparatus on it."

Workers removed the base of the spray feature, put a temporary cover over it, and then isolate it from the computer program.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says they did receive some reports of tree damage and power outages in the Port Lambton area.

Any residents who experienced noteworthy damage are asked to send information on the nature and timing of the storm as well as photos if possible to the weather agency by emailing storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca.
