Sarnia Seniors Worried About Potential Isolation

Sarnia seniors are worried about potential isolation.

That was among the concerns being discussed a Thursday's Age-Friendly Summit at the Lambton College Event Centre.

City Accessibility Coordinator Dale Mosley says over the past year they've been working with Lambton College to compile research through surveys and focus groups.

"We talked to about 1,000 people in this city and what they've done is taken all that research and now they've come out with recommendations, based on that research," says Mosley.

He says the 175 participants at the event would be asked to help prioritize the recommendations.

Mosley says a need to better communicate services available to residents 55+ was also one of the concerns identified in the research.

A cumulative report and action plan will be presented to Sarnia council next February, starting the implementation phase to be classified as an age-friendly community.
