Candlelight Vigil To Honour Veterans

Candles will be placed at the Sarnia Legion cenotaph Thursday evening in remembrance of fallen soldiers and those currently serving in the military.

The sixth annual Sarnia Legion vigil begins with a candlelit walk from the west side of the entrance to Sarnia city hall at 7pm.

Spokesman Les Jones says participants can purchase candles at the Legion on Front St. for a minimum donation of $5.

The name of a family member, friend or unknown man or woman who has served can be written on the candle which will be placed in front of the cenotaph.

Jones says in a touching tribute and act of remembrance, the candles will burn throughout the night with members of the local cadet organization on guard.

Sarnia's annual Remembrance Day service will be held Friday. There'll be the traditional parade from the Legion on Front St. to Veteran's Park for the 11am ceremony.
