Bluewater Regional Networks Launch

Bluewater Regional Networks has officially launched its fibre network, providing 1 Gbps internet services to commercial and institutional customers in Sarnia and Point Edward.

The subsidiary company, created by Bluewater Power, says it's now delivering the fastest internet speeds available in Ontario.

Vice President of Operations Chris Gould says public services, education, healthcare and businesses can connect to internet speeds over 90 times faster than was was previously available in this region.

"I would say that connectivity is going to become more of a utility than a luxury in the future," says Gould. "More businesses are finding the need for connectivity so much greater that they're driven to look for more robust options, like fibre optic network."

The cost to build the fibre network was significant, estimated at $40,000 per kilometre.

"It's not cheap to build, but I think more people are finding that those costs are more reasonable when it provides the benefits that it does," says Gould.

Gould says interested companies can find more information at www.bregional.com
