Full Time Emergency Services Director Position To Be Considered

Plympton-Wyoming is considering hiring a full-time permanent Director of Emergency Services, according to CAO Carolyn Tripp.

"Council is considering having one Administrative Chief, a Director of Emergency Services," she says. "They would become the administrative head and take care of fire prevention services, health and safety regulations, and so on. We would retain our existing station Chiefs in Wyoming and Camlachie."

Tripp says those two Chiefs are being burdened with regulations, paperwork and inspections that are overwhelming as a volunteer.

She says the $80,000 budget would be offset by the costs associated with the fire prevention officer and other services providers.

Council is expected to make a decision in September and if they approve the position, a recruitment process would begin with the job to be filled by January 1, 2017.
