Investigators Now Say Weekend Fire Accidental

Sarnia police now say a house fire Sunday morning, originally believed to be suspicious, has been determined to be accidental. Firefighters arrived just before 6am to a home in the 2000 block of Lanark Crt. to find flames on the outside of the second storey of a row-townhouse unit. Police and fire investigators have ruled the blaze was not deliberately set and is believed to have been sparked by an overheated bathroom exhaust fan. Residents got out safely after being alerted to the fire by a neighbour.

Damage is estimated at $80,000.
