Bluewater Power Marks 100 Years

The Bluewater Power Distribution Corp. is celebrating 100 years. President and CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says there have been several big changes over the last century since the inception of the Sarnia Hydro Electric Commission, starting with the number of customers.

"Back in 1916 we were, what we continue to be for many many years thereafter, which was an electricity distribution company and then we served 276 customers and today for example we serve 36,000 on the electricity distribution side.

McMichael-Dennis says over the last 100 years the total loaded costs has doubled from 10 cents a kw/h in 1916, to 20 cents today. Bluewater Power services Sarnia, Point Edward, Watford, Petrolia, Oil Springs and Alvinston. The utility is hosting several community barbecues this week (Aug 8-11) to celebrate along side its customers. Complimentary BBQ & Cake 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM at any of the four locations:
