Dow People Place Demolished

The long standing Dow People Place entertainment centre has been partially demolished as remediation of Sarnia's Centennial Park continues.

Built in 1974, the familiar covered stage with its blue facade, was knocked down Wednesday.

The latest plans called for the concrete pad and some related electrical infrastructure to be saved and reused as part of a new gathering area with a stage and washroom facilities.

The final phases of the park redevelopment also include a new boat ramp near Sarnia Bay Marina, an armour stone wall and a new watermain across the north end of the park.

The total project cost is expected to be in the $10-million range.
