Positive Signs In Bayside Mall Development

It appears the owner of the Bayside Centre property has cleared another hurdle in the eventual multi-million dollar re-development of the downtown Sarnia property.

Developer Gord Laschinger says they've received a verbal report on the results of the latest environmental ground testing.

"It tells us while there are some minor variances to regulatory levels, there doesn't appear to be any show stopper that would cause us to want to pull back from pulling ahead," he says.

He hopes to have results from groundwater testing in the next week or so and if everything comes back clean, they will then begin to close deals with the owners of Taylor's Furniture and TrinityLounge TempleBar.

Laschinger says they plan to keep the Taylor Building for future development but will demolish the other property to make room for a piazza at the south end of the building.
