Door To Door Salesman In Hot Water

Lambton OPP have arrested a 28-year-old man after receiving a call about an aggressive door to door salesman in Petrolia.

Police were called around 5pm Saturday and located two males on Joe St., one of which matched a description they had been given.

Constable Travis Parsons says Kim Minsoo of North York is charged with unfair practices under the Consumer Protection Act.

"Officers made contact with the person and, through investigation, determined that he was actually claiming to work the power company in selling water heaters in the area," says Parsons. "This was determined to be a scam."

Parsons says the penalty upon conviction is a fine up to $50,000 and two years in prison as well as restitution to the victim.

A corporation could also be fined up to $250,000.

He says it's also alleged the accused was in the country illegally at the time and the Canada Border Sevice Agency has been contacted.

Minsoo is to appear in Sarnia court June 10.
