Students at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Sarnia got a visit from a special guest Thursday morning. Terry Fox's brother Fred shared stories from his childhood and met with cancer survivors during a special assembly. He also wanted to thank the school personally for raising more than $275,000 during its annual Terry Fox runs. He says Terry's story identifies with kids. "Terry wasn't the biggest and best athlete, and wasn't the best student either," says Fox. "But through hard work and determination he was able to accomplish the things he wanted to do and I think that's a good example for young people." He also met with former teacher and cancer survivor Sherry King, and awarded her a special plaque for her hard work over the years. Unfortunately, the school has become increasingly impacted by cancer, with three students currently going through treatment. Fred met with those students following his presentation as well. Terry was forced to cut his cross country run short after 143 days and 5,300 km when his cancer spread to his lungs. Every September, Terry Fox Runs take place in 65 countries around the world. More than $800-million has been raised since the Marathon of Hope began in 1980.
