Construction activity in Sarnia through the first quarter of 2016 has surged ahead of last year's pace. City hall issued 56 building permits in March with a total dollar value of about $7.7-million. The year-to-date total is nearly $14.6-million compared to $8.6-million at this time in 2015. There were 18 permits for single family homes in March for a three month total of 36, more than double the 16 issued last year.
