Local families are part of the fight to keep a specialized school in London open.
Sarnia mother Cathy Pastorius says her 12-year-old son Hayden has flourished during his short time attending Amethyst Demonstration School.
She says he is one of five students from the Sarnia-Lambton area at Amethyst.
Pastorius says the provincial government is citing a drop in enrollment for the reason behind the possible closure.
"The Liberal government has capped it at about 40 kids per demonstration school and the school can actually hold up to 138 students," says Pastorius. "We're trying to fight it as well to have them up the enrollment to allow other kids to attend the school."
Amethyst shares a site on Highbury Ave. with the Robarts School for the Deaf, which is also at risk of closing.
About 300 parents and supporters attended a rally at the schools Wednesday with another planned April 14 at Queens Park.
