Improving Service At SSEC

Compass Group Food Services is hoping more staff will help things run a little smoother at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre.

The group met with the city of Sarnia in January after the city received several complaints about the inconsistent customer service at the rink.

Manager of arenas for the city Rob Harwood says they experience a number of challenges when hiring new employees.

"We understood there was going to be some transitional challenges," says Harwood.

"Obviously being a seasonal operation and events only once or twice a week, just difficulty that they've had as far as attracting staffing, and its been a challenge through the course of the season."

Harwood says they reached out to area golf courses to look for potential workers but were unsuccessful .

The city assumed ownership of the SSEC in February 2015.

Staff is expecting a report from the Compass Group this month to outline plans for next year's Sting season.
