Mayor Concerned About Drain On City Reserves

Revitalization of Sarnia's Fire Station 2 has exceeded budget by about $114,000.

Sarnia council is being asked Monday to allocate extra funding from an existing reserve.

Mayor Bradley says he's concerned about the huge amount of money taken from reserves to fund over budget projects the last number of years.

"Centennial Park certainly stands out. There's a reason for reserves, they're the 'rainy day' funds for you to go to, but I am concerned," he says. "Almost every meeting we're taking money from reserves when we should be doing proper budgeting once a year and standing by those budgets."

The revitalization project has modernized fire station operations and workplace amenities at the early 1960's building on Scott Rd. near Churchill Rd.
