Sting Cash Drive For Flint

The Sarnia Sting organization says monetary donations to assist Flint residents are being accepted during their game Friday evening against the Firebirds. Sting President Bill Abercrombie says they've been told there are other pressing needs beyond donations of bottled water. "We are encouraging our fans that we will be doing donation boxes at the game for the Red Cross, which will go to Flint. Not to bring bottled water to the game or look to drop it off," says Abercrombie.

"So that's a little bit of change, but that's what we'll be doing for them." Red Cross officials and Sting personnel will be at the doors at the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre Friday, collecting monetary donations. The water supply for Flint's 100-thousand residents has been tainted with lead since 2014, when authorities started drawing from the Flint River to save money.
