Generous Donation For Park Amenities

The Rotary Club of Sarnia Bluewaterland is donating $150,000 to the City of Sarnia for revitalization of Centennial Park.

Spokesman Henry Kulik says they're committed to establishing a therapeutic park and recreation area that will hopefully open this September.

"At this point, we're meeting with city staff and working at this very collaboratively," says Kulik. "We know this is just two of key features in the whole revitalization project at Centennial Park."

Kulik says the therapeutic park will likely feature raised flowerbeds for those with accessibility issues, wider pathways, and model similar parks in hospital settings.

"Where people will go for quiet and rejuvenation, so it has a lot of features in terms of impinging on your senses," says Kulik describing the planned atmosphere.

The recreation area will include a playground and likely other outdoor amenities such as workout equipment for adults and seniors.

The total cost of the project is not yet known, however, they're hoping to keep costs within the donation amount.
