Fatal collision under investigation

The South Bruce OPP are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a cyclist.

On July 6 just before 8 a.m., police responded alongside Bruce County EMS to a reported collision along 1st Avenue south in Chesley.

When officers and paramedics arrived, they discovered that a vehicle and a bicycle were involved in the crash. The rider of the bicycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The rider's age and identity have not been shared at this time.

Officers closed a portion of 1st Avenue South to conduct the investigation, which is still ongoing. It has been re-opened to traffic.

South Bruce OPP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or knows any information to immediately contact them, or Crime Stoppers. Police say more updates will follow.
