Joint RIDE Program

Lambton OPP, Sarnia and C.N. Police Services will be partnering in a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere program.

The three law enforcements are holding a RIDE program Wednesday to educate and enforce shared impaired driving laws in the community.

In the first 11 months of this year, there have been 35 fatalities caused by impaired drivers on provincially patrolled highways.

In that time, the OPP has laid just over 6,000 impaired driving charges.

Locally, OPP saw three fatalities and 100 injuries in 21 alcohol-related collisions.

Over the holiday season, officers continue to urge motorists to drive sober.

Those who are drinking have options besides driving, including arranging for a designated driver, taking a taxi, staying overnight, or using public transit.
