Dow Demolition Delayed

It's expected the familiar DOW People Place in Centennial Park won't be demolished now until sometime early in the new year.

Despite demolition plans to take place in August, then later pushed back to the fall, the DOW People Place still remains standing in Sarnia's Centennial Park.

City Engineer Andre Morin says they've recently completed the asbestos abatement on the building and are currently in the process of awarding a tender for demolition.

It's hoped demolition pricing will not exceed a set limit to avoid a tender report having to go to council for approval which would further delay the project.

Morin says more information is to come in the next week.

It's expected remediation Phases 2 and 3 will still be finished in time for the popular waterfront park to fully reopen by Labour Day.
