Ontario's Environment Ministry says samples taken following the demolition of a Michigan power plant across from south Sarnia early this month, contained no traces of asbestos.
It took only seconds for the former 12-storey DTE Energy plant in Marysville to be brought down the morning of Saturday, November 7.
A large dust cloud rolled across the St. Clair River.
Ministry spokesperson Kate Jordan says testing of swab samples taken from a couple of homes on the Canadian side of the river did not detect any asbestos.
She says materials in the cloud were "typical outdoor dust falls."
Jordan says affected homeowners, Aamjiwnaang First Nation and the city of Sarnia were notified of the results.
