Fatal Police Standoff In Port Huron

A suspect in a St. Clair County Michigan Drug Task Force investigation took his own life early this morning following a standoff with police.

The suspect was spotted in a van that pulled into the Speedy Q Market on Water St. in Port Huron Township around midnight.

When police tried to make contact with the suspect, the 41-year-old Port Huron man pulled out a gun, but the female driver was able to safely leave the vehicle.

Despite negotiations and the use of pepper spray, the man would not give himself up and shortly after 3am this morning, he turned the gun on himself and was pronounced dead at the scene.
