OPP say it was one of the deadliest Civic long holiday weekends in recent history.

By midnight Monday, nine people had lost their lives on OPP-patrolled roads and another six had drowned. One person died in a boating incident.

Four of the road fatalities were motorcyclists, one was a cyclist and one a pedestrian. Three of the fatalities were in one car and all were in their 20's.

All six drowning victims were male and three were youths.

The body of 16-year-old Lucas Johnson of Goderich was recovered Tuesday afternoon from Lake Huron.

He had last been seen Sunday afternoon near the south pier at Kincardine Harbour.

The marine fatality occurred when a canoe carrying two men capsized. Neither was wearing a personal flotation device.
