Investigation Into Turbine Fall Continues

Eleven of 13 orders and requirements issued by the Ministry of Labour have been met, following a serious workplace injury at Suncor’s Cedar Point Wind Power Project. A worker fell from an elevated height within a turbine shaft on the evening of July 21. The orders were made to Constructor Amec Foster Wheeler, Borea Construction and subcontractor Sentry Electrical, the employer of the injured worker. Ministry spokesperson William Lin says compliance with two requirements remains in progress. A stop-work order was issued relating to workers climbing vertical ladders in turbines but it has since been lifted. An update of the worker's condition has not been made available. The investigation continues.
