Orders Issued In Turbine Fall Investigation

Ontario's Labour Ministry has issued a total of 13 orders and requirements, including one stop-work order, following a serious workplace injury at Suncor's Cedar Point Wind Power Project in Lambton Shores Tuesday night.

A worker fell from an elevated height within a turbine shaft around 7pm Tuesday. Lambton OPP and EMS responded to the scene on Ravenswood Line.

Ministry spokesperson Janet Deline says the orders were made to Constructor Amec Foster Wheeler along with Borea Construction and subcontractor Sentry Electrical, the employer of the injured worker.

The stop-work order is related to workers climbing vertical ladders in the wind turbines. Other orders and requirements refer to safety procedures, documentation and training records.

There's no condition update on the worker and the investigation is ongoing. The ministry had described his injuries as critical.
