Gas Leak Evacuates Homes

Several residents in the Villette Townhouse complex on Finch Dr. had to be evacuated last night.

Sarnia Fire Platoon Chief Bill Sheane says a resident digging a fence post ruptured a 60 lb Union Gas pipeline shortly after 7:30pm.

A Sarnia Transit bus was also called in so residents could get out of the wet cold. They were allowed back in their homes about an hour later.

Sheane says it's a classic case of "call before you dig".
