DeAngelo Named Defenceman Of The Year

Former Sarnia Sting Anthony DeAngelo has been named OHL Defenceman of the Year.

The 19-year-old Sewell, New Jersey native is the fifth American-born player to win the Max Kaminsky Trophy.

DeAngelo, traded to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds last season, led all defencemen and finished 13th overall in league scoring with 89 points in 55 games including 64 assists.

He was selected 26th overall by the Sting in 2011 and would go on to set a franchise record for career points by a defenceman, surpassing Mark Katic, with 190 in 210 games.

DeAngelo beat out five finalists for the award including Sting rookie defenceman Jakob Chychrun.
