Sarnia Council To Reflect Silently

There will no longer be non-denomination prayers held in council chambers. Sarnia City Council, by a vote of six to three, approved a motion to do away with the practice in favour of a moment of silence to begin regular meetings. Mayor Mike Bradley supported the motion, but says he will miss hearing from the religious community. The move follows a recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada that says prayers cannot be recited before municipal council meetings in Saguenay, Quebec.
