Abercrombie: Sting Coaching Change Not Performance Based

Sarnia Sting President Bill Abercrombie is commenting on yesterday's shake up of the team's coaching staff. Co-Owner Derian Hatcher is the new head coach, Trevor Letowski and Assistant Andy Delmore were let go.

Abercrombie stresses the coaching change had nothing to do with the team's performance on the ice.

In just over two seasons as head coach, Letowski led a young Sting team to a 53-86-15 record. He was officially named head coach in 2013 after serving three seasons behind the bench in assistant and associate roles.

Hatcher, a former NHL player, and current player David Legwand of the Ottawa Senators acquired the Sting from Rob and Larry Ciccarelli in January and the sale was approved by the OHL Board of Governors in early March.
