A significant portion of the fencing around Sarnia's Centennial Park could be removed by June.
Phase 1 remediation of the popular waterfront park will resume in the next few weeks once the frost is out of the ground and before weeds begin to sprout.
City Engineer Andre Morin says they'll sow grass seed over new soil and a geo-textile layer that was installed after the removal of contaminated earth.
He says after the grass is cut for the first time, in mid to late May, fencing around the northerly portion of the park will come down.
Fencing in the area of the playground, beach and Dow People Place extending to the park's southerly limit will remain in place.

London-based Bre-X Construction was hired for phase one remediation at a cost of $2.5-million.
Much of the park has been closed since May 2013 following the discovery of asbestos and other contaminants.
