More Frigid Weather

Sarnia Lambton is under its fifth cold weather alert of the season.

The Medical Officer of Health issued the alert with the temperature Thursday forecast to drop to -15C.

The alert is expected to remain in effect until Monday with overnight lows on the weekend hovering around -20C.

All residents should take precautions by dressing in layers, shielding exposed areas from the wind like the head, neck and face and limiting time spent outdoors.

Lambton Public Health advises local agencies that provide shelter and assistance to the homeless to prepare for an increase in demand.

Overexposure to cold temperatures can be hazardous and can lead to Hypothermia.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says the temperature will fall through the day Thursday in the wake of a cold front that'll sweep through overnight Wednesday night. There's also the chance of snow squalls impacting north and eastern Lambton County Thursday.
