Golden Hawk Is Headed Home

After two years, The Sarnia F-86 Sabre Golden Hawk is headed home.

The Sarnia landmark, that's been perched on a pedestal for 40 years to honor the airmen who died in the Battle of Britain, was removed by a group of aeronautic enthusiasts who wanted to restore the plane to its original glory.

Project Coordinator Mark Seibutis a time capsule will be included in the plane once its back on its pedestal.

The plane will be reassembled at Germain Park before a crane is able to lift it onto its perch.

Seibutis says they hope to have a special rededication ceremony in the spring.
