An Inwood Area Farmer Is The New OFA President

You could say that persistence has finally paid off for Don McCabe.

The Lambton County farmer has been elected President of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture.

McCabe is a long-time OFA Vice-President who has run for the top job in the past.

This time he finally came out on top, defeating incumbent Mark Wales 147-106 in the third ballot.

McCabe says he's looking forward to plotting the future path for Ontario agriculture with as many partners as possible.

He also believes the province's agriculture sector holds a bright future for young people - suggesting the industry needs people who can splice both barbed wire and genes.

The Ontario Federation of Agriculture's annual convention wraps up Tuesday in Niagara falls.
