Important health initiative in CK needs your help

The Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team (CKOHT) wants to hear from those who have experienced racism or discrimination in a health care setting in the municipality.

The CKOHT has launched a survey, saying it is committed to learning about experiences of racism and discrimination in order to make improvements in local health care.

Executive Transformation Lead with the CKOHT Melissa Sharpe-Harrigan said this survey is doing important information gathering and supports their Strategic Plan objective to identify and address accessibility barriers and reduce inequities to local health care.

"Our OHT partners are committed to safe and equitable care, and this work is an important step to understanding the lived experiences of people across Chatham-Kent," said Sharpe-Harrigan.

She noted the survey was not triggered by a rise in racism in local health care, adding the survey is part of a planned initiative led by the CKOHT Diversity and Equity working group.
