CKHA Foundation's Spring 50/50 winning ticket drawn

The winning ticket for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation's Spring 50/50 has been drawn and it was won by a Chatham-Kent native who now lives in St. Thomas.

Jason Howes was the lucky holder of ticket number CK-7052050 and won $74,690.

The Spring fundraising campaign raised over $140,000.

Howes told CK News Today he was caught off guard when he got the call that he had won.

"I thought it was one of those auto-dialers where [they say] hey, you should check your tickets the draw was announced today kind of thing and then after that the disbelief, like no, that can't be happening. It definitely took me by surprise," Howes said.

Howes bought 1,500 tickets for the draw and said it just felt right donating to the cause because Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has taken such good care of his family in their time of need.

"The family grew up in Chatham-Kent. So, just trying to give back to the community and I like the cause," said Howes.

Howes said he's going to use his winnings to buy a BBQ and finish getting his pilot's licence.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward the highest priority needs at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
