Wanted man arrested after trespassing call in Chatham

A 32-year-old Chatham-Kent man who was wanted for breaching his bail conditions is back in police custody.

CK police said they arrested him while they were following up on a call for a trespassing investigation at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday on Wellington Street West.

Officers say they found two men on the property, one of whom was wanted on an outstanding warrant for bail violations.

Police said they arrested that man and took him to police headquarters where he was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

The second man was "moved along."

Chatham-Kent man arrested for contacting someone he was banned from communicating with

A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man is spending some more time in a holding cell after he allegedly violated his probation by reaching out to a specific person he had been banned from contacting.

Police said they got a call about that just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday and found the man a short distance away.

He was arrested and police said when they searched him, they also found some ammunition on him.

The man was taken to police headquarters and was set to be held there pending a bail hearing.

He is currently charged with five counts of failing to comply with a probation order and one count of possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

Police track down man wanted in theft investigation

A 38-year-old Chatham man who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation is back on the street after a brief stay in police custody on Thursday.

Officers said they found the man on King Street West in Chatham just before 12 p.m. Thursday and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant, so they arrested him.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date.

The man is charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and failing to attend court.

Wanted Chatham-Kent woman arrested after well-being check

A 30-year-old Chatham-Kent woman who's facing theft and mischief charges is back in police custody.

She's also accused of resisting arrest and failing to comply with her probation order.

CK police said they found her while they were conducting a well-being check on a woman walking on Murray Street in Chatham just after 4 p.m. Thursday.

Officers confirmed the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant in a mischief investigation and took her back to police headquarters where she was set to be held pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent man arrested in domestic violence case

A 52-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing a handful of charges after he allegedly hit a woman during an argument on Thursday.

Officers said they were called to an address in Chatham for that shortly after 6:15 p.m. Thursday and learned that the man and the woman were arguing when it escalated to the point where the man assaulted the woman.

Police said they also learned that there had been a similar incident a few days before that.

The accused was arrested and taken to police headquarters before he was later released with a future court date.

He was charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm.
