A state funeral will be held in Ottawa and Montreal next week for Canada's 18th Prime Minister the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney.
Mulroney passed away on February 29, 2024.
He will lie-in-state at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building in Ottawa on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dignitaries will be invited to pay their respects Tuesday morning while members of the public can visit Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning.
On Thursday, a lying-in-repose will take place at the Saint Patrick's Basilica in Montreal. Again, dignitaries will pay their respects in the morning and members of the public are invited Thursday afternoon and Friday.
The funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Notre -Dame Basilica of Montreal. Eulogies will be offered by Caroline Mulroney, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Wayne Gretzky, James Baker, and Jean Charest.
The funeral cortege and the ceremony will be broadcast live from Montréal on Canadian Heritage's Facebook and YouTube channels.
