The first annual “Ride of Respect” Poker Run will be held on Sunday, in support of the Rebound Rocks program.
There will be breakfast and registration at the Sarnia Moose Lodge on Phillips Street, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event will take participants to five fun and interactive stops located in Lambton County and Chatham-Kent.
Event founder and organizer David Burrows said the Poker Run is a fun and engaging way for both motorcycles and cars to participate and enjoy at their own pace.
"It is not a race," said Burrows. "We have so many prizes to give away, thanks to the generous support of so many local businesses and individuals in our community. The Rebound Rocks program has been around for about six years now and they are in need of a new drum set and money to maintain the program that has brought so many youths in our community together.”
Registration is $15 or $20 with a passenger. Donations are also being accepted from those just wanting to stop by and enjoy the event.
The Rebound Rocks group will also be performing at 5 p.m. and everyone is welcome to come and listen to the group’s talents.
More information and a route map can be found in the Ride of Respect group on Facebook.
According to the Sarnia-Lambton Rebound website, Rebound Rocks provides youth 13 to 18 with skilled volunteer mentors who help guide them in creating a rock band, assisting and encouraging them to achieve their full potential.
By introducing them to their potential in music, they receive a clear message that they are capable of anything if they work hard enough.
Rebound Rocks provides the full experience of being part of a rock band including weekly rehearsals and opportunities to play live concerts in the community.
The youth learn performance skills, live sound production, song writing and event management.
