Local tech company launches new job search platform

A local tech start-up says their new web platform will make resumes a thing of the past.

Picsume's goal is to change the way people enter the workforce, specifically for hourly wage workers or people looking for freelance opportunities.

"It's a dynamic work profile that allows you to represent yourself in a new way. The resume is dead. Picsume is the future. In essence, it's verified, validated data that employers can access any time," said Jordan Goure, president and CEO of Picsume.

Goure said they set out to fix the disconnect in the workforce where it seems like everywhere is hiring but nobody can find work.

“Having been in the staffing and recruitment industry for 20 years, I’ve seen first-hand the evolution of hiring” says Meighen Nehme, President and C.E.O, The Job Shoppe, Co-Founder of Picsume. “Candidates are increasingly looking for opportunities that allow them to learn multiple skills, work flexible hours, and gain experience in a variety of industries. Picsume is changing how candidates present themselves as part of the workforce, and how employers interact with them.”

The web platform is live now. Candidates and employers can build platforms to match job postings or search for candidates.

The start-up has received government grants from two different programs.

The NRC IRAP grant helps Canadian small and medium businesses with technological innovations and the i.d.e.a. Fund, a program that fosters and supports a sustainable green economy in Southern Ontario.
