Registration open for new Children's Treatment Centre run

Registration is now open for the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent’s new event Run for the Kids.

The run is set for June 25 and will take place in Rondeau Provincial Park.

"It’s great that CTC Foundation has created a new event that focuses on our CTC kids and the health and well-being of our community,” said Run for the Kids Race Captain and CTC Foundation Vice-Chair Kevin Owen.

According to organizers, Run for the Kids is a family-friendly event that is open to participants of all ages and abilities to walk, run or wheel through Rondeau Provincial Park. The run will feature a paved 200-metre kids fun event and a five-kilometre route accessible for strollers, wheelchairs and wagons.

"Rondeau is the ideal place to walk, run, or wheel through while raising money to support the important therapies that CTC offers one out of five kids in Chatham-Kent," said Owen.

The new event is part of a redesigning of CTC Foundation events in 2023, which the organization said will allow it to focus more on raising community awareness and funds to support special programs for CTC children and their families.

"Not all services at the Children’s Treatment Centre are covered by government funding," CTC Foundation officials said through a media release. "Programs like Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation Services and Music Therapy are all funded by the CTC Foundation. Proceeds from this event will mean families continue to receive connection, comfort and support by accessing these services."
